Restraining Order On Immigration Executive Order

On February 9, the 9th Circuit put a restraining order on the Executive Order relating to visas, screening, and refugees, entitled “Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry Into the US.” It prohibited entry of individuals from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.

On February 21, DHS issued two memoranda increasing immigration enforcement and increasing fast-track removal processes.

Enforcement priorities will likely have an impact on employment-based visas, including Ls, H-1Bs, and B1 authorization. In the immediate term, it could increase the likelihood of site visits.
